Reducing our Noise Impact at Murdo Courts

On August 15, 2024 the Directors of the NSPC adopted the following measures:

  1. to mandate the use of USAP approved Balls With Lower Acoustic Profile at the Murdo Frazer pickleball courts during club permit times, specifically the Onix Fuse;
  2. to recommend that members not use paddles designated “red” as per the Sun City Grand Pickleball Club Paddle Sound Study, March 2022 and listed HERE at Murdo Frazer courts;
  3. to provide PB Mufflers to those using “red-designated” paddles for club play;
  4. to investigate other “quiet” ball options.

Kathy Godfrey Family

Many will know kind, energetic Kathy from Murdo court play.

Kathy’s 2-yr old granddaughter, Emy, has been fighting for her life in Children’s Hospital since May 28. Her parents are expecting their second child in a matter of days.

Kathy asks for your thoughts and prayers for her family.

Estha purchased a gift for the family on behalf of the NSPC.

No Drop In Tuesday and Thursday at Murdo This Week

When?    Tuesday & Thursday June 18 and 20, 9-am to noon

Where?   Murdo Frazer courts

What?   There will be no regular drop-in play on those 2 mornings.  All other sessions this week coming up are a go, weather allowing.

Why?    Instead, NSPC volunteers will be hosting up to 120 students from Highlands and Cleveland Elementary Schools for a free intro to pickleball session.

Did You Know?

Thanks to Maggie Murch and dozens of NSPC volunteers, NSPC has have run a variety of programs from introduction to the sport with students, PD Day staff instruction and Staff Socials for North Shore secondary and elementary schools for 4 years now.  Additionally we know of and have helped at least 21 schools get their own set of paddles, often with the help of the BC Pickleball Youth Grant and the Selkirk Growth Program.

Here are our high-level stats:

Rain Policy:
Slippery courts can be unsafe in which case the session will be cancelled.
It may be raining in your neighbourhood but dry at the courts. Always best to come down to check if the session is going forward.
Unfortunately our limited permits mean its impossible to reschedule outdoor events. The host will endeavor to leave a sign on the court door if the session is cancelled or email the group when possible.

Please register for one session only.
Unfortunately the session is cancelled if the courts are too wet. You will be given priority registration for the next month’s intro.
