Tuesday August 1, 2017 Doug Perkins brought a group of Summerhill Parc residents out to play pickleball. There were about a dozen ladies in this group, minimum age unknown. But in the group was what we believe to be the most senior pickleball player on record – Gerda Thrane who is not quite 99. And play pickleball they did – for nearly an hour outside in the sun and heat.
It was really great to see the expressions on their faces and hear the laughter in the air. And then to hear a few days later that they want a pickleball court in their building so they can play more often.
This was the second group of seniors that Doug has brought out to play pickleball. About 10 NSPB regulars were there to assist Doug.
